 Next to Maremagnum, Port Vell, presided by the statue of Cristóbal Columbus, and the pubs and restaurants of the Barceloneta, Barcelona opens to the sea through its six beaches. You have 30 hectares of sand in order to lie down in the sun! At the end of Joan de Borbó Avenue (metro: Barceloneta) the beach of San Sebastián begins and, next to it, the Barceloneta arrives to the Olympic Port. After the port, the beach of Nova Icària begins. After the Bogatell pier, the beach of the same name begins. From the next pier, one enters the beach of Mar Bella and, finally, Nova Mar Bella the last coastal zone that has been rehabilitated in the city. The beach attracts the citizens and visitors the whole year although, logically, it is in the summer when it is more concurred. If you decide to have a bath in beaches of the city, look for the informative flag that will warn to you if the water is in good state. The blue or green flags mean that the water is all yours. These urban beaches are cleaned three times a day in the bath season. The water is clean, the access is easy and the beaches are monitored, have positions of rendering, First Aid of the Red Cross, potable water sources and washbasins. |
