The mountain of Montjuïc, that touches the sea, is full of charmes. In it there are numerous museums and palaces, but it is not necessary to enter too much in it in order to enjoy them. To Plaza Espanya it is possible to arrive with line 1 of the metro. The plaza has several attractive items.
The great fountain in the center of Plaza Espanya is work of a disciple of Antoni Gaudí, Josep Maria Jujol, and of the sculptures Miquel Blay, Frederic Llobet i Llucià, and Miquel Oslé. Also the Plaza de Toros bullring, with over a century of history, is conserved. From Plaza Espanya one arrives to Reina Maria Cristina Avenue.
This avenue flanked by fountains that leads to the Magical Fountain Square. At night it is possible to enjoy the spectacle of this FontMàgica, Designed by engineer Carles Buigas for the Universal Exhibition of 1929. The Magical Fountain offers a water, light, music and color spectacle. In summer there are functions all Fryday to Sunday nights.
If one keeps walking to the end of the avenue one finds the National Palace and the National Museum of Art of Catalunya (MNAC). It is possible to arrive there with the electric stairs and from the entrance to the Palace there is a splendid view of the city, mainly at night. The National Palace was constructed in 1929 and from 1934 it lodges the National Museum of Art of Catalunya.
